Color Line Canteen

Color Line Canteen

‘Color Line’ was painted by former Dodgers pitcher Brett Tomko. The term color line wasoriginally used as a reference to the racial segregation that existed in the United States after the abolition of slavery. Jackie Robinson broke the MLB color line on April 15th, 1947. He started for the Brooklyn Dodgers at first base and later that year became the inaugural MLB Rookie of the Year.

Brett Tomko played for Florida Southern College, where he would lead his school to a Division II National Championship. In 2014 the Division II Pitcher of the Year Award was renamed to the Brett Tomko Award.
